Analgesics
Analgesics
NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) are medications used to treat pain, fever, and other inflammatory processes. Pain is a subjective, unpleasant, sensory, and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or abnormal nerve functioning. It may be classified as acute, chronic, or cancer pain (1). Unlike anesthesia used during surgery, analgesics don’t turn off nerves, change the ability to sense surroundings, or alter consciousness (2).
How NSAIDs help?
They're often used to relieve symptoms of:
- Headaches
- Painful periods
- Sprains and strains
- Colds and flu
- Coronavirus (COVID-19)
- Conditions such as arthritis that can cause long-term pain (3)
Recovery and outlook? (1)
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most commonly used drug classes globally. They treat fever, acute or chronic pain, and inflammation from various conditions. (4)
